

Chesterlene (Bennett) Holt of McGregor peacefully passed away Thursday evening at the age of 86 in Temple, TX. A memorial visitation will be Friday, July 14 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Cole Funeral Home, 1113 W 5th St, McGregor, TX. A private burial at Crawford Cemetery will be at a later date.
Mrs. Holt was born January 14, 1937, in McGregor, TX, the daughter of Burney Bennett and Vera (High) Bennett. She was a 1955 graduate of McGregor High School where she played volleyball and basketball. On March 8, 1957, she married Wayne Holt in McGregor, TX until his death on December 19, 2013.
She was a stay-at-home mom until her children were in school working at Bessie’s Little Store. She worked for Smead Manufacturing for 35 years until she retired, and then briefly at Hidden Talents in McGregor. She was a member of College Avenue Baptist Church and the Dorcas class.
Throughout her life, she enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family.
Preceding her in death was her husband of 56 years Wayne Holt, her sister Mary Ann Bennett, her three brothers Ray Bennett, Duane Bennett and Nathan Bennett, and a granddaughter, Crystal Edwards.
Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Mahoney of Waco, Darlene Morin, & her husband, JD of Belton. two sons Billy Wayne Holt and his wife, Carry of Robinson, Brian Craig Holt and his wife, Georgene of Grandview and a sister, Joan Karr of Oklahoma.
Special thanks are extended to her grandson, Marcus Mahoney, and granddaughter, Mia Morin for the excellent care shown to their grandmother during her illness.
