Edna Marie (Mueck) Wendt

Edna Marie Mueck Wendt, 84, of Crawford, Texas, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, March 9, 2019. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Crawford, Texas with Pastor Tom Beers officiating. Interment will follow in St. Paul Memorial Park, Crawford, Texas. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Cole Funeral Home, McGregor, Texas.

Mrs. Wendt was born in Cameron, Texas on March 12, 1934 to Reinhold Mueck and Louise Nittman Mueck. She grew up in Cameron and along with her twin brother, Edwin, was the youngest of seven children. She graduated from Cameron Yoe High School in 1951 and moved to Houston where she lived and worked with her sister, Rita, at Port City State Bank for many years. Edna moved from Houston to the Waco area and she continued to work in banking. She was passionate about country and western music and dancing. At a dance, she met John Louis Wendt and they married in November 1969. They were married until his death in 1995. They were members of Zion Lutheran Church, in McGregor, for many years and she was currently a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, in Crawford, but she always held on to her Catholic upbringing. After marriage, Edna became a homemaker, a mother, and she ran the family farm. Edna loved life on the farm. She would count her cattle daily and kept detailed records of everything pertaining to the farm. She was an avid gardener and had an extensive vegetable garden every year to prove it. Edna was a die hard Dallas Cowboys fan. She was a strong wife and mother and had a special relationship with her grandson, Lanie.

Preceding her in death were her husband, John Louis Wendt; her parents; sisters, Lillian Horelica, Elenora Mueck, Rita Hlavack; and brother, Paul Mueck.

Mrs. Wendt is survived by her daughter, Lisa Wendt Fisher and husband, Mark Fisher, of Crawford; son, Mark Wendt, of Waco; grandsons, Lanie Fisher, of Crawford, John Wendt, of Waco, Dillon Wendt, of Waco; brothers, Bill Mueck, of Cameron, Edwin “Yack” Mueck and wife, Dorothy, of Cameron; sisters in law, Rosalie Mueck, of Cameron, Adeline Mueck, of Temple, JoAnn Wendt, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; brother in law, Doug Wendt, of Joshua; best friend Dottie White, of Lewisville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Westview Manor for their loving care, during the past six and a half years, and a special thank you to Bonnie Krause.
