John Robert Holocker, 65, of McGregor, Texas, passed away on November 9, 2018 in Waco, Texas. John was born in Fresno, California on August 27, 1953 and graduated in 1972 from Central Union High School.
Upon graduating High School, John dedicated his life to the service of his country and for 22 years traveled the world with the United States Navy, retiring in 1992. Following his military service, he worked among friends as a Chef for the ‘Our Place Restaurant’ in McGregor, Texas.
John’s military service wasn’t enough for him and after 9/11 he answered the call of service again and served an additional six years for his country as a Department of State Contractor in support of Combat Operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Upon his return he again took up the title of Chef for a final time at ‘The Coffee Shop’ also in McGregor, Texas.
John held a love for the culinary arts and spent his life enjoying foods from around the world and sharing his discoveries with others.
John is survived by his two daughters, Crista Holocker-Haggerty and Jonnie Vallar; grandsons, Marcus Moseman and John “Mayson” Vallar; Mother, Louise Holocker; Brothers, James David Holocker and wife Jeannette, Danny Holocker and wife Janet; Sisters, Carolyn Arthur and husband Dale, Mary Russell and husband Bob, Nancy McConnell, and numerous nieces and nephews.
John is preceded in death by wife Lucretia of Gatesville, TX and Father, James Riley Holocker of Fresno, CA.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, November 18, 2018 at 2:00 pm Cole Funeral Home at 1113 W 5th St, McGregor, TX 76657. Visitation will be held 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Cole Funeral Home. Immediately following the service, the Burial will be held at Osage Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Cole Funeral Home.
