It is with the deepest sorrow we announce the passing of Jose Diaz. Fondly known as Mailman Joe. Jose Lincoln Diaz, 77, of McGregor, TX, died in his home on Sunday February 18th. Joe was a proud Army Veteran, Husband, Father, and Friend.
Leaving behind a mourning family, he is Survived by his wife Cindy, children; Cloresia and her husband Quinton; Melinda Copeland; Joseph and his wife Lori; John Diaz; Rena and her husband Lee; Tammy and her husband Terry; Tracy and her husband Randy, 9 siblings, and 22 grandchildren. Joe was preceded in death by his mother and father, Margarita and Ben Diaz; his first spouse Deanie Diaz; his daughter Shelly and Brothers Gilbert and Jimmy.
A proud McGregorite, Joe was a 1967 Graduate of McGregor High school. Joe’s life took a pivotal turn that same year as he was drafted into the US Army. It was a period that not only tested, but honed his courage, resilience, and commitment to his fellow man. His Bravery and Dedication were recognized and rewarded with numerous honors including the Bronze Star w/V device for Valor, Purple Heart, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, and US Army Basic Parachutist Badge.
Upon returning from Service, Joe continued to serve his community. He became a beacon of service and goodwill as a volunteer at the American Legion, VFW and the Association of Mexican Americans. His efforts and dedication made a significant difference in many lives.
Known for his unwavering dedication to serving both his country and his community, Joe’s spirit will undoubtedly live on through the values he instilled in his family and the contributions he made over his lifetime. His loss is felt deeply by those who knew and loved him, and his legacy will be carried forward by those who were touched by genuine warmth and commitment to service.
Rosary will be held Wednesday at 7pm at Cole Funeral Home, and Service will be held Thursday 11am, at
St. Eugene's Catholic Church.
