

Patricia Louise Smith of McGregor passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at the age of 65 surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 13, 2012, at College Avenue Baptist Church with Pat Cummings officiating. Interment will follow in McGregor Cemetery under the direction of Cole Funeral Home, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Friday at Cole Funeral Home.
Pat was born October 6, 1947, in Comanche, Texas the daughter of Walter Elmo and Mary Inez (Kilgore) Abbey. She began her education in Comanche where she was a cheerleader, an honor student and a class favorite In 1965 she graduated from DeLeon High School. Pat was blessed with three daughters and enjoyed being a stay at home mom and homemaker until their teenage years. On November 17, 1987, she married Richard Smith in McGregor and welcomed his three daughters into her life and their family was complete. She became a licensed paralegal and was currently employed by Murray Watson, Jr. and Associates Law Firm.
In her spare time, Pat loved to read, travel with her husband and spend time with her family. She especially enjoyed weekend trips to her mother’s home in DeLeon. Pat was a gentle caring mother and grandmother. She always offered kind, supportive words to her children and always let them know how much she loved them. Whether it was a shoulder to lean on or a listening ear, she was a blanket of comfort for each of her loved ones. Although known as a very quiet and humble woman, her pride in her grandchildren was eagerly expressed. Pat will be sorely missed by her family each and every day. She was actively involved in her children’s lives and will live in each of their hearts forever.
Preceding her in death was her father, Walter Elmo Abbey; a brother, Billy Abbey; a granddaughter, Megan Dominguez; two grandsons, Logan Fullerton and Bradley Bottoms.
Survivors include her loving and devoted husband Richard Smith of McGregor; her mother, Mary Inez Abbey of DeLeon; six daughters, Kayla Daniel and husband Joe of Carrollton, Kelly Holecek and husband Nathan of Waco, Kristi Blair and husband Tom of McGregor, Tammy Creamer of Hewitt, Tonya Tullous of TN, Sherry Miller and husband Reggie of Hewitt; a brother, David Abbey and wife Cindy of DeLeon; nineteen grandchildren, Amanda and Ashley Fullerton, Hayley Wollard and husband Cory, Jessica, Christina and Kyle Holecek, Alex Dominguez, Ericka Alaman and husband Victor, Patricia Cook, Samuel and Brandi Blair, Justin Smith, Matthew Espinoza, Abigail Creamer, D’anna Carlton, Bethany Smith, Kristian Gonzalez, Steven Gonzalez, R. J. Miller; seven great grandchildren; uncles, Lonnie Kilgore and Waylon Abbey of Comanche and Vernon Kilgore of Salem, Oregon; three nieces and one nephew.
