

Paul H. Marcum of Moody passed away Monday morning, April 5, 2010, at the age of 73. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, April 9, 2010, at Cole Funeral Home Chapel, 1113 West Fifth Street, McGregor. Interment with military honors will follow at 3:00 P.M. at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday at Cole Funeral Home.
Mr. Marcum was born September 5, 1936, in Casa Grande, Arizona, the son of the late John Henry and Naoma Vesta (Ballard) Marcum. He received his education in Arizona and at Central Texas College in Killeen, earning a degree in criminal justice. He served his country in the United States Army for twenty-four years. His decorations include the National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal and the Good conduct Medal to name a few. On May 3, 1969, he married the former Betty Overby in Lawton, Oklahoma.
After retiring from the military, he was employed by the Texas Department of Corrections in Gatesville for fifteen years. Throughout his life, he enjoyed fishing, gardening R.V. traveling and spending time with his family, whom he loved a lot.
Survivors include his wife of forty years, Betty Marcum; three sons, Kenneth R. Marcum and wife Glena Jo of Iola, Keith R. Marcum and wife Brenda of Rosharon, Kevin T. Marcum of Washington, PA; a daughter, Kimberly Marcum of Bruceville; a sister, Kay Christensen and husband Paul of Panaca, Nevada; six grandchildren, Kristian Lane Hudson, Amber E. Hudson, Steven Hudson, Connor Marcum, Hannah Leah Marcum and Daniel Elliott Marcum and a niece, Cynthia Kay Alger of Pahrump, Nevada.
