Dixie was preceded in death by her husband, Donald "Iain" John MacDonald; her parents, Procter and Alva Smith; and her sister, June S. Van Riper.
Left to cherish her memory is her sister, Carol Longest; son, Charles Lawrence Scott (Nancy); grandchildren, Kimberly Haynie (Corbin), Michael Lawrence Scott (Ashley); and Mackenzie Lee Scott (Alex Pate); great-grandchildren, Lilly, Rylee, and Iain; and devoted friend, Wayne Berkley.
She was a long time member of the Arabian Horse Association and she was an Arabian Horse Breeder. Dixie was also a founding member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. She Co-owned and operated Clay Springs Motel and Restaurant with her sister, Carol, for many years.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 23, 2025 at Woody Funeral Home - Atlee Chapel, 6271 Shady Grove Rd., Mechanicsville, VA 23116. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 11342 Hillcrest Rd, Hanover, VA 23069 with burial to follow at Signal Hill Memorial Park, 12360 Hanover Courthouse Rd., Hanover, VA 23069.
