Dudley Jerome "DJ" Greene Jr.

GREENE, Dudley J. "DJ," of Mechanicsville, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends, after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Amber; and two beautiful children, Abigayle, age 10 and Dillon, age 8; mother, Julia; and brother, George. He will also be missed by the Marks family, which includes a sister-in-law, Karen; brother-in-law, Jeff and wife, Wendi; brother-in-law, Roy and his girlfriend, Julie; and his mother-in-law, Jane; two nieces, Brittany and Lauren; as well as his nephew, Joshua.

The family would like to give special thanks to Amber's work family at Henrico Doctors' Hospital, as well as DJ's work family at Swift Transportation, where he worked for years as a driver manager, for all the love and support they showed during this long battle. The family would also like to thank all the wonderful friends and extended family members for all their love and support.

Visitation will be at Woody Funeral Home on Shady Grove Road in Mechanicsville, on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral will be Thursday, 1 p.m. at the chapel at Woody Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at Hanover Memorial Park on Mechanicsville Turnpike. The family will receive family and friends at their home at 8192 Studley Rd., in Mechanicsville, following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, there has been a college fund set up for each of the children at Wells Fargo Bank.
