JOHNSON, George Raymond, of Richmond, after a long illness at 97 years old, he left this life to be with his heavenly father. He was born in Louisa, Va. A place he always said was good to be from! He was predeceased in death by his wife of 70 years, Mable N. Johnson; one sister and three brothers. He is survived by one younger brother, Russell L. Johnson; a daughter, Judy Gail Johnson; a host of wonderful nieces, nephews and long standing friends.
He was a avid sportsman. Fishing and hunting were his passions and after he retired from Reynolds Metals Company, he and his companion, Buster Brown, a Cocker Spaniel, would go fishing and hunting quite often. He also spent a great deal of time taking care of his home and the family he loved during his retirement. Special thanks go to Comfort Care Senior Services and Seniors Connections, for all that they do!!! And a very special thank you goes to Hannah Williams, for unwavering and endless dedication to our family and to my Dad during his lengthy illness!!
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 4000 Pilots Lane, Richmond, Va. 23222.
