COX, James C., Jr., 92, passed away April 4, 2016 at his Richmond, Va. home. “JC” was a native of Galax, Va. and longtime resident of Roanoke, Va. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Clarence Cox and Attro Elliott Cox; his sisters Florence Cockerham, Ava Heane, and Evelyn Mitchell; and brothers Garnett, Muncey, and Neal Cox. He is survived by his sweetheart of 67 years, May W. Cox; his daughter, Sandra (Ed) Miller; grandsons, Joshua (Kristin), Jonathan (Heather), and James; three great-grandchildren, Finn, Amalie, and Silas; two sisters, Imogene Sutherland and Alice Phillips; brother, Franklin Cox; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is a veteran of the United States Air Force and retired from the Roanoke Post Office. He enjoyed gardening, carpentry, raising chickens, and a lifelong hobby of genealogical research. He instigated yearly family reunions to keep his beloved extended family in touch. He was a long time member of the Lt.
