Mary T. Brewer, 83, of Jacksonville, FL went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 27, 2019. She was a member of Spotswood Baptist Church before moving to Jacksonville, FL where she attended Deermeadows Baptist Church until her death. She retired from the General Accounting Office in December 2001 where she started as a clerk and rose up to the level of GS 15 as an Auditor. Mary graduated from Mary Washington University in 1986 with a degree in Economics with a minor in Finance. Mary loved her job and was constantly receiving promotions and awards for her outstanding performance. She was a huge advocate for higher education. Mary was also a very loving and devoted mother to her two sons and grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her sons, David Brewer (Kim) of Fredericksburg, VA and Carl Brewer of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Benjamin Brewer of Alabama, Kathryn Giuffrida (Stephen) of Lake Alfred, FL, Jared Brewer of Fredericksburg, VA, and Christian Brewer of Fredericksburg, VA; great-grandchild, Samson Brewer of Collinsville, AL; siblings, Eunice Jones of Jacksonville, FL, Ruth Hanchey of Louisburg, North Carolina, Carol Turner of Atlanta, GA, and Lynette Turner of Wilmington, DE; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Avery Turner; her mother, Maude Wester Turner; brothers, Thomas Avery Turner Jr. and John Turner; sisters, Martha Ann, Frances Jeanetter , and Carolyn Lee. A memorial service will take place on Monday, October 14, 2019 at Woody Funeral Home - Atlee Chapel, 9271 Shady Grove Rd., Mechanicsville, VA 23116 followed by an interment in Signal Hill Memorial Park.
