

Robert James McGann, 77, of Mechanicsville, passed away Sunday, March 23rd at VCU Hospital from injuries from a fall caused by Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP is a rare and aggressive atypical parkinsonism disease).
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sue Meador McGann.
Bob graduated from Otterbein College with a degree in mathematics and received his master's degree in math/computer science from VCU. An Air Force veteran, he also served in the Air Force Reserves.
Bob retired from the Commonwealth of Virginia with 35 years of service. His last position was as a "technical" systems analyst with the Dept. of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS).
A member of First Presbyterian Church, Richmond, Bob was an elder and deacon in the Presbyterian Church (USA).
Bob enjoyed various interests and over the years was a member of the Ft. Lee Flying Club, Old Dominion Z Car Club, Richmond Wine Society and Richmond Area Bicycling Association (RABA). He loved working with computers, fishing and reading.
Many thanks to those who gave Bob extraordinary care--Dr. Donald Ganley, Kim and Katina with At Home Care and the amazing nurses in the Palliative Care Unit at VCU Health.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
