
Robert "Bob" Calvin Stevens, age 85, of Ashland, Virginia, passed away on March 1, 2024. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was a graduate of the University of Virginia's School of Engineering in 1963. His professional career as an electrical engineer started at Westinghouse and IBM, with most of career working for the municipal government of Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Bob's life was marked by service and commitment. He proudly served in the United States Navy and was a respected member of Rural Point Baptist Church.
Bob's passion for the railroad was evident through his volunteerism with the Old Dominion Chapter - National Railway Historical Society. He played a vital role in preserving the heritage of trains through his work at the Ashland Train Station Visitor Center and the Richmond Railroad Museum.
Bob is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty H. Stevens; children, Mark C. Stevens (wife Lynn) and Karen S. Devegnee (husband Charles). He is survived by six grandchildren - John Hennlein, Kristin Hennlein, Kaitlyn Hennlein, Allie Devegnee, Kyle Stevens and Ryan Stevens - and a brother, E. Donald Stevens. Bob was preceded in death by his two sons, John Stevens and Donald Stevens.
A graveside service will be held Friday, March 8, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Signal Hill Memorial Park, 12360 Hanover Courthouse Road, Hanover Va 23069 followed by a Celebration of Life Banquet at Hanover Tavern, 13181 Hanover Courthouse Rd, Hanover, VA 23069 immediately following the service at 3 p.m.
