Charles Allen Norris, 58, died of heart failure after a long struggle with kidney disease on New Year’s Day in Central Point, OR. Chuck was born on February 25, 1958 in Seaside, OR to Gerald and Barbara Norris. He is survived by his daughters Ashlee Harrison (and her husband Christopher) and Taylor Norris, parents Gerald and Barbara Norris, and brothers Kent and Randy Norris.
Chuck was born in Seaside, Oregon and later attended Four Corners Elementary, Parrish Junior High, and South Salem High Schools in Salem. After high school he entered the Air Force where he was stationed in California. After leaving the Air Force he went to work for Morton Thiokol where he worked with the space shuttle program for seven years. Chuck then moved to Medford, Oregon where he worked for Pacific Power & Light finishing his career as a journeyman lineman.
Chuck enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life. They included scuba diving, rafting, big game hunting, fishing, softball, camping, and car shows. Most Sundays included watching NASCAR events. He was especially competitive when it came to board games where he loved to win and hated to lose. In recent years he enjoyed involvement in Rogue Mustangs and Classic Fords Inc. car club.
One of the most important components of Chuck’s life was his dog, KC. The three year old Border collie was his constant companion and will be spending the remainder of her years with Taylor.
People close to him will miss his complex personality and funny sense of humor. He hated, yet loved, the ‘Chuck Norris’ jokes and often used it to his advantage when he could.
Chuck experienced kidney failure the last seven years of his life. The family would like to thank his entire medical team for their patient and loving care throughout his illness. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the Kidney Association of Oregon in his name.
Services will be conducted at the Eagle Point Veterans Affairs Cemetery on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 3:00 PM. There will be a reception at Chuck’s house following the service. All are welcome to attend.
