My condolences to Mr. Obeys family, he was definitely a wonderful person that could just brighten up a room, he was always so positive and had a great sense of humor and he will truly be missed.

Thinking of Obey lately and sad that I cannot make it to his memorial tomorrow... I keep thinking of his smile and the way he carried himself--always light, always present, always living his best life in the simplest of ways.

I used to ask him everyday if he was winning, and his answer was always, "Well, I woke up today." That was Obey. Grateful, grounded, reminding everyone around him that just being here mattered. If waking up was the win, he understood the game better than most of us.

I am sad that I can't be there but I'm honoring him from afar and sending love to everyone who's missing him. Rest easy, Obey. Thanks for the smile, the perspective and the reminder to count the small victories--you won't be forgotten. With all the love in our heart from your friends ~ Rhiannon & Keith

I am so sad to hear about Obey’s passing. I was talking to him just a week or so ago. He was always so friendly and cheerful that he was loved throughout the neighborhood, especially the children.  They would be calling out “Obey! Obey!  I appreciated especially that he reached out to my husband, who has dementia but is a fellow Vietnam veteran. Kate Coggin
