

Jim was born on May 31, 1934 in Medford, Oregon, to parents Reva Davidson Merritt and Ralph E. Merritt. He graduated from California State University, Sacramento in 1978 with a degree of Bachelor of Science, Business Administration.
In 1957, following his military service in the U.S. Navy, Air Branch, he moved to Sacramento, CA and accepted a position of Quality Engineer at Aerojet General Corporation, where he worked for more than 31 years.
Jim married Mary E. Hampton in 1964, in Cocoa Beach, Florida. The couple had no children. He was a craftsman in everything he did, and was involved in various car clubs during his life.
Jim enjoyed Boating, Flying and Restoring Vintage Automobiles. His family and friends will always remember him as honest, hardworking, a long-time animal advocate and loving person.
Jim is survived by his wife, Mary and two current beloved dogs, Jenna and Pepper; his sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Al Gleason; his nephews, Dan, Paul, and Tom Gleason and their respective wives; and his brother/sister-in-law, Don and Marilyn Hampton; and many friends.
Jim requested there be no funeral. He will be interred at Eagle Point National Cemetery at a later date.
