Larry was born in Crabtree, Arkansas on March 26, 1950 to Don James Rogers and E. Laura Hoyle. He lived in Crabtree until age 3, and then in 1953, the family moved to Southern Oregon. He attended first grade at Washington Elementary, Mrs. Gilbertson’s class, Howard Elementary and Central Point Junior High. He graduated in 1968 as first male valedictorian from Crater High School.
Larry attended two years at SOSC, and then worked in construction for 6 years where he moved all over the State of Oregon.
He married Nanci Jo Van Leeuwen in 1970 and they had two daughters Lisa Kay Rogers (Pearson) in 1976 & Julie Ann Rogers (Cummings) in 1980.
Larry went back to school and graduated in 1978 with a business/accounting degree with a minor in math.
He joined Yergen-Meyer accounting firm in 1978, then joined Watkins-Burton-Standridge firm in 1980. He opened his own firm in 1988. His wife Nanci passed away in 2011.
He married Judy Schulz in October 2013. Larry sold his CPA business to Rick Brewster in 2013 but continued to work for him until he was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2017.
Larry was blessed to have bought his first car, a 1958 Chevy Belair when he was 17. He had it fully restored in 2009.
Larry was a member of the Medford Cruise for 30 years, showing his beautiful ’58 Chevy and his classic ’66 yellow Corvette. He collected numerous trophies for his cars over the years.
Larry loved fishing in Alaska or just fishing the Rogue River. He enjoyed hiking, working hard with his hands, woodcutting, logging, just being out in the woods, enjoying nature.
Larry attended Eastwood Baptist Church, Tablerock Christian Fellowship and in most recent years, Edgewater Fellowship in Grants Pass.
Larry is survived by his wife Judy Schulz Rogers; daughter’s Lisa Pearson and Julie Cummings, son in laws, Chris Pearson and Josh Cummings; 7 grandchildren; sisters, Kathryn Venemon of Scottsdale, AZ and Loretta Palmer of Medford along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
