
Sherrell Eugene Sears, age 96, of Medford OR, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, peacefully in his home. He was born on December 2, 1929, in Long Beach, CA to his parents Hershel and Lucy Sears. Sherrell was one of 4 children.
He graduated from Bakersfield High School. He proposed to Nancy Jean Stone, Valentines Day 1951. They were married on May 5, that same year. They had 2 daughters: Beth and Amy.
Early in his working career, he was a Fire Fighter in Kern County. After suffering a mild heart attack at age 38, he returned to school to obtain his teaching credential and then, taught graphic arts, wood shop, and metal shop. He could build anything, fix anything, and grow anything (a master gardener). He was a jack of all trades and an amazing provider for his family.
Sherrell will be remembered by his daughters, Beth Hill of Bakersfield, CA and Amy Davis of Carlsbad, CA. as well as his Grandchildren, Anthony, and Whittney Hill. He was survived by his sister Kathleen Perceval, of Bakersfield, CA. Sherrell was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life for Sherrell at 10:30am on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at First Baptist Church, 649 Crater Lake Ave., Medford.
