

Tom was born in Milwaukee, WI to Donald Nash and Ella Barton Cooley. As a young child, he moved to Southern California where he graduated from high school. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War, stationed in Alaska where he worked as an electrician at a radar station. He was later transferred to Bryan, TX, where he was discharged and then went to Texas A&M University, becoming a civil engineer. Upon graduating, he went to Sacramento, CA for he worked for the for the State. There he met Dorothy, whom he married in 1963.
In later years, he and Dorothy went full-time RVing for several years, and then settled in Medford, OR in 1991. They were very active in their church and with friends.
Tom is survived by daughter, Jodi Weber (Eugene, OR), step-son Martin Sawin (Grass Valley, CA), four grand-children and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by Dorothy in September 2022.
Tom is interred at the Eagle Point National Cemetery in Eagle Point, OR. A brief Honors Ceremony will be held there on Monday, September 18 at 2:00.
Dorothy Ida Bower Cooley, age 87, of Medford, Oregon passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2022.
Dorothy was born in Smithland, Iowa to Owen and Ruth Bower. In high school, she moved from very small town Iowa to Los Angeles, CA, where she graduated from University High School. The family then moved back to Iowa. Later, Dorothy moved to Sacramento, CA, where she later married Tom Cooley in 1963. They moved frequently around both California and the country. When Tom retired, they went full-time RVing for several years, finally settling in Medford, OR in 1991. They were very active in their church and with friends.
Dorothy's husband, Tom, followed to meet her in heaven in July 2023. She is survived by her daughter, Jodi Weber (Eugene, OR), her son, Martin Sawin (Grass Valley, CA), grandchildren Leah Price, Dana Sawin, Julia Monson, Curtis Sawin, and eight great-grandchildren.
