

Born on January 15, 1921 in Lyndonville, NY, she was the daughter of the late William and Tessie “Pratt” Carpenter.
Millie lived in the Lyndonville area all her life. On February 28, 1948, she married the late Sidney Ward, together raising their children and large number of foster children. She worked for various factories, including the Lyndonville Canning Factory. Millie was a former leader for both Cub and Girl Scouts. She was a member of the Lyndonville Presbyterian Church and the Mother’s Club. Millie enjoyed gardening, cooking, crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren.
Millie is survived by her children, Jack (Michelle) Ward of Lyndonville; Frances “Chicky” (Jim) Moore of Missouri; Michael (Alta) Brown of Medina; Julie (Mark) Tedesco of Depew; 27 foster children; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. Also, a sister-in-law Virginia Carpenter of Lyndonville and several nephews and cousins.
Besides her husband, she is predeceased by a son, Raymond Ward.
There are no calling hours. A graveside committal will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the West Ridgeway Cemetery at 10:00 AM with the Rev. Stephen P. Devine officiating.
