Abbie Jean Lester, 88, passed away October 12, 2021 at YourLife of Wildwood in Wildwood Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Billy P. Lester, her parents Albert and Mary Crumpton, and her sister Mary Ann.
Abbie is survived by her sister, Martha (Don), her sons, Don (Denise) and Michael (Sharon), grandchildren, Blaine (Gina), Andrew, Danny, and Janie (Nathan) Dean, and great grandchildren, Makenzie, Jack, Sadie, Oliver, and Zoe.
Born in Oxford, MS and raised in Memphis, Abbie was primarily a homemaker. She spent several years in retail sales at Sears and was an administrative assistant at the corporate headquarters of Holiday Inns. An avid church attender at Oakhaven Baptist, and later, Germantown Baptist, Abbie also taught Sunday school for several years and volunteered in the church’s clothing ministry in Rossville.
Abbie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was always a sweet and loving person to whomever she met. She will be greatly missed.
Family will receive friends Friday, October 15, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119. Interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119.
