
Celebrating the Game of Life for Alonzo Bolden
Alonzo Bolden was born to the late Thomas and Bernice Bolden on January 19, 1961. He accepted Christ and was baptized early in age at Galilee AME church.

Alonzo graduated from “The Hamilton Highschool” class of 1979. His love of football blossomed here where he was labeled one of the best running backs in the city of Memphis, “Mr. Blue Shoes”. Alonzo went on to play football at Southern Illinois University. Alonzo went on to blaze his trail in the workforce where he displayed a very strong work ethic at some amazing companies.

Alonzo won the game on December 15, 2022. He leaves to run more plays his two daughters; Jacquette Lewis and Jastassia Bolden; one son; Dylan Bolden; four grandchildren; Ariel Lewis, Destini Bolden, Ariuana Lewis, and Timmie Robertson III; three great-grandchildren; Wilbur Ruffin III. I’yanna Ruffin, and Ivy’anna Ruffin; three brothers, Stanley Bolden (Ellen), David Bolden, and Donald Bolden (Patricia); one sister, Sharon Cowan; three nieces; Carolean Bolden, Ieasha Ward, and Brooke Bolden; two nephews; Stanley Times and David Bolden Jr., and a host of other family and friends.
A visitation for Alonzo will be held Friday, December 30, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at M. J. Edwards Funeral Home, 1165 Airways Blvd., Memphis, Tennessee 38114. A funeral service will occur Saturday, December 31, 2022 at 12:00 PM at Deliverance Temple Ministries, 5078 Millbranch Rd., Memphis, Tennessee 38116. A burial will occur Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 12:00 PM at New Park Cemetery, 4536 Horn Lake Rd, Memphis, Tennessee 38109.
