Barbara Warren Smith, 78, of Germantown, Tennessee passed away on May 1, 2018. Barbara was born to the late J.T. and Billie Joyce Warren in Pontotoc, Mississippi on December 17, 1939. She was retired from Memphis City Schools after nearly forty years of service as a high school teacher. Barbara founded the White Station High School Knowledge Bowl Team and sponsored the teams for countless years, coaching the teams to many championships thru the years. Barbara enjoyed her membership in a local bridge club, the Red Hat Society, and the Germantown Women’s Club. At King’s Daughters and Sons Home, Barbara served on the Home Board as well as President of the City Union Board. Barbara was married to the love of her life, Patrick Wendell Smith, for 57 years, whom she leaves to mourn her passing. She is survived by her only child, Melinda Deas, and her only granddaughter, Virginia Deas. She also leaves her brothers, James T. Warren of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Garry Joe Warren, Sr. of Winston, Georgia. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 7 from 6:00 – 8:00pm at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 8 at 11:00 am at the same location with private burial services to follow.
