What can I say about my mother? It is virtually impossible, in this short space…with so few words, to adequately honor her. There is no way, inside a handful of paragraphs, to truncate a life…a spirit…such as hers. But this is of little consequence, as her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched. The unconditional love that she shared with us all, each in our own special way, is undying.
Brenda Estelle Carpenter O’Steen was born June 17, 1944 to B.W. and Hattie Lee Carpenter…the second of five children. She was a graduate of East High School in Memphis, Tennessee…then began a long and dedicated career in customer service. In her free time, she enjoyed painting, photography, and genealogy research. Her culinary talents were unsurpassed, and no occasion went by without one of her delicious, beautifully decorated cakes.
Brenda Estelle left our world too soon, passing away from complications of cancer on December 26, 2015. She is survived by her daughters, Aynastacia Meyer and Amy Leigh Watson…sister and brother-in-law, Herb and Libby Fields…brother, Brinson Carpenter…three grandchildren, Parker Bengel, Zachary Meyer, Elliot Watson… three great-grandchildren, Noah Bengel, Hunter Bengel, Kasen Meyer…nephew, Mac Fields…and her beloved cat, Gracie.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family asks for donations in her honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
