Buster began working at the age of 11 selling newspapers at Camp Carson Army Base in Colorado Springs. He always worked one or two jobs at a time until he joined the Navy at age seventeen. After boot camp in San Diego, he was stationed in Millington where he met his wife of 70 years, Wilma.
Buster retired from the Navy after 30 years as a Chief Yeoman. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Buster’s second career of 35 years was plant engineer at King Cotton Packing Company in Memphis, Tennessee.
Buster began his 50 year Masonic career after becoming a Master Mason in Richland Lodge #748 in 1970. He joined the Memphis Scottish Rite and Al Chymia Shrine in 1973. He served as Representative of the Masonic Service Association to the Memphis VA logging over 5,477 hours serving our veterans. He also served over 20 years on the Shrine School Board for Al Chymia Shrine.
Buster and Wilma raised their girls at Northview Baptist Church and are active members of Bartlett Hills Baptist Church. They enjoyed many years of camping through the River M Sam’s Club where he served 10 years as President.
Buster is preceded in death by his mother, Bertha Gregg and sister Jean Wright. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Marie Miller; daughters, Lori Hudson (Jeff), Glenda Fox (Bob), Lola Tiner (Wayne), and Brenda Miller; 12 grandchildren, Lindsey Miller (Jason), Miller Hudson (Annie), Brandon Tiner, Kyle Hudson (Mallori), Derrell Tribble (Ashley), Deven Tribble, Jaime Fox, Kevin Tiner, Hayley Hicks (Collin), Macy Tiner, Ryan Tiner, and Cameron Fox; and 14 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 26, 2021 from 10:30am-12:00pm with a funeral service to immediately follow at 12:00pm all at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave., Memphis, TN 38122. Interment will take place at 2:30pm at West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 4000 Forest Hill Irene Road, Memphis, TN 38125.
