

Jane Maupin passed into glory on June 12, 2025 in Dyersburg, Tennessee. She is survived by her children, Dan Vaughan (Daphne), Cathy Clark (Dwayne) and Susan Coe (Vann) and step children Richard Maupin and Alisa Burnett (Donald) along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Ballard Maupin; parents, Tazewell Sydney Morton, Jr. and Catherine Moore Morton and brother, Tazewell Sydney Morton, III.
Mrs. Maupin was born in Birmingham, Alabama on March 17,1931 but was raised in Gulfport, Mississippi. She attended the Mississippi University for Women where she graduated in 1953 with a degree in Social Studies and Speech. She was a member of Pi Kappa Delta Forensic Honor Fraternity, an honor society dedicated to promoting excellence in speech and debate.
She resided in Birmingham for most of her adult life. While there, she worked for the Episcopal Diocese of Alabama and was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and later, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. At St. Stephen’s, she served as president of the Episcopal Church Women, Chairman of the Altar Guild, and was a member of the Pastoral Care and Special Affairs Committees. She also taught Sunday School and served in Vacation Bible School.
Mrs. Maupin was very active in numerous organizations in the Birmingham area including the Reveler’s Dance Club, Civiettes Club, Birmingham Symphony Volunteer Council, Assistance League and various Bridge clubs.
