Catherine Ione Wicker, 81, passed on January 8, 2017. She was a nurturing person with a kind heart and always gave a helping hand to anyone in need. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. Mrs. Wicker was preceded in death by her husband Joe DeWayne Wicker; parents, John Mears and Catherine Russell; and brother, Johnny Mears. She is survived by her son, David A. Wicker; daughter, Rhonda L. Shapard; sister, Phyllis Mears; three grandchildren, Jeremy E. Shapard, Scott B. Shapard, Julia M. Wicker Kail; and two great grandchildren, Skot Free Shapard and Gavin B. Shapard. The family will receive guests on Thursday, from 12 till 2 pm at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave. Funeral service will begin at 2 pm with burial to follow in Memphis Memory Gardens. All memorials can be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital for Juvenile Diabetes.
