Cecil William Duke, 70 passed away November 16,2014 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis. He was a member of the first graduating class of Overton High School, where he was captain of the football team. He attended the University of Memphis earning his Bachelors Degree, and then obtained his JD from the University of Illinois Law School. He practiced law in Memphis until 2008, helping countless people throughout his career.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William Cecil Duke and Edith Everette Suitor Duke.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Darla Duke; son Chris (Aubrie) Kobernus; grandson, Landon Kobernus and a sister Betty Duke Shadish.
The family will receive friends Friday November 21, 2014 from 4-6 p.m., with a memorial service held at 6 p.m., all at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family ask memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
