Clarence Harbert Spencer (95) was born in Enville, Tennessee on March 29, 1929 and entered his eternal rest in Heaven on June 13, 2024. His parents were John Logan Spencer and Lula “Myrtle” (Smith) Spencer. He came to Memphis in 1948 and gained employment at the International Harvester plant, where he worked for 37½ years. In 1949, he married Alma Jo Taylor, also of Enville. Mr. Spencer is survived by his three children, Danny Spencer (Kathe), Garry Spencer, and Diana Spencer; his three grandchildren, Amy Spencer, Jeremy Spencer of Portland, Oregon, and Rachael Spencer of Fuefuki, Japan; and his three great-grandchildren, who live in Portland, Oregon, Sophia Spencer, Daphne Spencer, and Francesca Spencer. Clarence Spencer accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior when he was 11 years old and was baptized in the Tennessee River. He was a longtime member of Grimes Methodist Church in Memphis, where he served as an usher and elder of the church. Mr. Spencer was very generous and had many friends. He enjoyed outside activities like golfing and gardening. Until he was 92 years old, he walked two miles per day at Gaisman Park. He was a licensed amateur (ham) radio operator with the callsign, WA4WDF.

A graveside service will occur Friday, June 21, 2024 from 3:15 PM to 3:45 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133.
