Widow of Irving Shelton, leaves son John S. Shelton, daughter-in-law Jane Shelton, sister Maxine Pines, grandson Andrew F. Shelton, granddaughter-in-law Nikoo Paydar, and great-granddaughter Elizabeth A. Shelton. She was born in Nashville and moved to Memphis during high school years and while there, she hosted a radio program from the Peabody Hotel. She graduated from Stephens College, Columbia, Missouri. After college, she moved to New York and married. She wrote children’s books, was active in Jewish organizations, and with Irving, was one of the founding members of Temple Sinai in Tenafly, New Jersey. Her favorite activities included duplicate bridge, travel, reading, giving to her favorite charities, and watching “Jeopardy!” Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm, Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015 at Temple Israel Cemetery Chapel. Friends are warmly invited to her son John’s home following services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to the charity of your choice.
