She was happily married to J.D. Coyle for 50 years. She is survived by daughter, Lisa Souder, and son, Glenn Coyle, Grandchildren: Tyler Souder (Megan), Allyson Coyle, and Christen Coyle, Great-Grandchildren: Lorelei Souder, Lilly Stewart, and Logan Stewart
Dorothy graduated from Whitehaven High School and had many lifelong friends from her time there.
She raised her family in Parkway Village for 30 years and continued to nurture relationships with her neighbors there after moving to North Mississippi.
She was a member and served as an Elder at Christ United Presbyterian Church, and a member at Faith Presbyterian Church after they merged where she sang in the church choir for many years. She enjoyed Gospel music and played her piano beautifully. Dorothy was a retired Secretary from the Internal Revenue Service after 25 years. She loved her coworkers and stayed in touch with many of them throughout the years.
She was actively involved in her family's lives and was a very proud grandmother. She loved vacationing at the Gulf Coast where she could enjoy her favorite food - shrimp - and her favorite sound - the waves - in abundance. She loved gardening and was a member of the Daylily Society with her husband J.D. for many years. She enjoyed tending to her flowers and watching the birds and chipmunks in her garden from the den window. She collected antiques and loved the stories behind each piece she found.
Her favorite times of the year were the holidays, when family and friends would gather together to celebrate. She cherished her Thanksgiving tradition of watching the Westminster Dog Show as a family. Her Mother and Father were reputable AKC Championship breeders, and her father an AKC judge and professional handler later in his life. Like her family, she was a true animal lover with a soft heart for anything that wiggled, so her rescue lab mix, Molly, was like her third child.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 19 from 1pm to 2pm with her funeral service to immediately follow at 2pm.
A private graveside will be held on Monday, July 20 at Forest Hill South cemetery.
