Dorothy Sowell Forbus, 91, passed away at St. Peter Villa Thursday, March 3, 2011. Mrs. Forbus had a love for flowers and gardening, which awarded her “Yard of the Year” in 1983. She was also a former resident of Union Ave. Baptist Towers, where she made many friends. Mrs. Forbus was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Brice Forbus; son, David A. “Bubby” Forbus; and her 7 siblings. She is survived by her sons, Donald Ricky and his wife, Beverly Forbus, and Raymond Forbus; grandchildren, Melanie Waye, Mark Forbus, April Thompson; and great-grandchildren, Madelynn and Mason Thompson. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 6, from 12 noon until the service begins at 1 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, Poplar Avenue. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
