He leaves his wife of 34 years, Faye (Savage) Hopkins; his daughter, Michelle Jaquess and his sons Steven (Lisa) Hopkins, John (Charlotte) Tyler, Jimmy Tyler, Philip (Michelle) Tyler, Rickey (Donna) Anthony, Jerry "Bubba" Anthony and James (Mary) Anthony. He is survived by his brother Joseph Hopkins and sister Irma Carmichael. He was a grandfather to five grandsons, three granddaughters, and thirteen great-grandchildren. Tommy also leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Catherine Cox Hopkins and Earl Hopkins. His sisters Anita Holden and Melba Adams are also deceased.
Tommy was born in Memphis, TN and was currently residing in Tunica, MS. He retired from IC / CN Railroad after 42 years of dedicated service. Prior to that, he served in the Navy. Without a doubt, he would have been on the straight path to leadership, however, he was diagnosed with asthma after just 29 days of service. He was an amazing bowler, pool shark, cross word solver, and he loved the slot machines and playing Keno. Anyone close to Tommy knew to pay him a visit or a phone call if they were up for a debate on current events, historical facts or needed to solve a math equation. Tommy was a gracious host to many gatherings throughout the years, always keeping in mind everyone's favorite beverage or snack.
E.T. will go down in history as an all-around family man and great friend to all. He will be greatly missed.
