

Emma Louise Schaale Montgomery, 92, of Memphis, formerly of Cincinnati, OH, passed away April 14, 2012, at Kirby Pines Manor. She was born on January 8, 1920 in Wolf Point, MT. Her parents were Emma Jensine Stoldt Schaale and Richard Frederick Schaale. She grew up in Montana, and was a graduate of the University of Minnesota, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She and her family lived for many years in Cincinnati, where she was active in the community and her church, Armstrong Chapel United Methodist. She moved to Memphis in 1980 and was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church and the Wesley Sunday School Class. She was an avid golfer, and had extraordinary talents in sewing and embroidery. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Robert Montgomery, and two brothers, Richard Schaale, Jr. and Robert Schaale. Mrs. Montgomery is survived by her daughter, Sue Montgomery Boals (husband, Joseph Calloway) of Southern Pines, NC; her son, Robert Montgomery, Jr. of Memphis; grandchildren, Norfleet Ann Montgomery, Joseph Calloway Boals V, and Christiana Louise Boals; sisters-in-law, Alma Montgomery Leidel of Arlington, TX, and Vurnie Schaale of Eureka, MT; and many friends. She was devoted to her family and friends, and took great joy in helping others. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and lived her faith each day of her life. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her and whose lives were blessed by knowing her. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, at the Estates Chapel at Kirby Pines Retirement Community. She will be buried next to her beloved husband in Bethesda Cemetery, Aberdeen, NC.
