Georgia Striglos Dawson

Georgia was preceded in death by her beloved husband Dick, and her sister Angie. She is survived by her brother Bill, her sister Helen, her children Eric (Lola) Dawson, Paula (Dale) Bandi, and grandchildren Andy, Abby, and Sarah.

Georgia was born and raised in DeKalb, and married Dick in 1961, at the Church of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Chicago. She subsequently moved to Pittsfield, MA in 1964 where Eric was born, and then to Rome, GA in 1966 where Paula was born. In 1985 they moved to Newton, NC and to Hickory, NC in 2005. In 2008 Dick and Georgia were graciously invited to live with Paula and Dale, in Madison, MS. After Dick’s passing in 2010, Dale and Paula, along with Georgia, moved to Lakeland, TN.

Georgia had a wonderful career as an elementary school teacher. She taught in Beloit, WI, Madison, WI, Dekalb, IL, and Rome, GA. She was loved and fondly remembered by all who had her as a teacher.

Georgia was raised in a Greek family, and as such remained very close to her aunts and uncles, siblings and cousins throughout her entire life. She will be greatly missed.
