Gerald “Jerry” Parnell, born November 11, 1950, passed away August 9, 2016 at Methodist University Hospital. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army and worked as a bus operator for MATA for 20 plus years before finally retiring in 2015. Even retirement couldn’t keep him down! Being the people person he was, he volunteered at the VA. He was a loving husband, brother and father. We will all miss his quick wit and vibrant personality. He was preceded in death by his parents, D.H. and Carolyn; brother, Terry; wives, Shirley and Viola; and son, David. He is survived by his sister, Wanda (Dave); daughter, Jennifer; sons, Tieron (Josie), Michael (Allyson), Chris and John; daughter-in-law, Sarah; 10 grandchildren; aunts, uncles, and many cousins. Visitation will be Friday, August 12th from 5 to 8 pm at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave. Services will be Saturday, August 13th at 10 am at the funeral home with internment to follow at Bethlehem Cemetery.
