

Irma Gant Williford, age 101, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2025. She was born July 24, 1923 in Saltillo, Tennessee to Bruce Harrison Gant and Icie Averett Gant. She attended West Tennessee Business College, Jackson, TN. She worked at the Milan Arsenal where she met the love of her life, Henry Williford. They married December 18, 1945. Irma later worked with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in West Memphis, the old Kennedy Hospital, Harding Academy, and the Church of Christ at White Station (where she was a long time member). Her favorite career was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Described by those who knew her as a special, gracious, southern lady; she was a loving, kind person and a good friend. Irma was a great cook and enjoyed working in her yard tending to her flowers. Her home was always open to others and she loved entertaining. She was a faithful follower of Jesus and truly beautiful on the inside and out.
Irma is survived by two children, Steve Williford (Janet) and Cindy Fowler (Charlie); five grandchildren, Brittney Anderson (John), Hank Williford (Anna), Cari Ruiz (Marco), Cody Fowler (Chelsea), and Caycie Fowler; and seven great-grandchildren, Lucca and Levi Ruiz, Caden, Ella, and Elim Fowler, and Jack and Caroline Anderson. She is also survived by several loving and beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry.
The family will receive friends on SUNDAY, January 12 from 1:00 PM until the funeral service at 2:00 PM, at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119. Graveside will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the Church of Christ at White Station or Saltillo Church of Christ.
