

LCDR James Keith Burton, USN, Retired, 91 of Cordova passed away November 19, 2014. James was retired from the United States Navy, serving during WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. He also retired from Federal Express where he was one of the original “Dirty Dozen” pilots where he was given the nickname “Pappy.” He was beloved by all who knew him and will be truly missed.
James is survived by his daughter Kay DeCaro; brother, Les Burton (Dana); daughter in-law, Betty Burton; grandchildren, Paige DeCaro Jones, Hailey Burton; great grandchildren, Connor Jarrell, Kraig Jarrell, Krista Jarrell, and Noah Jones. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Eva Ruth Burton; daughter, Jamie Burton; son, Barry Burton; and granddaughter, Deanna Lynn Jarrell.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 25 from 5-8 pm at Memphis Funeral Home on Poplar Avenue. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 26 at 11 am in the South Chapel of Memphis Funeral Home (Poplar Avenue). Burial with military honors will follow the service at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery at 12:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society or the charity of the donor’s choice.
