Born in Wichita Falls, Texas, on March 31, 1953, James spent much of his early childhood in Panama, where his father served as a USO band leader in the US Army. The family later moved to Memphis, where James was recruited to play high school football and made many lifelong friendships.
In 1980, James met the love of his life, Suzanne. They bonded immediately, married and spent nearly 44 years together as best friends and partners. Together, they built a beautiful family, creating a life full of love, laughter, and memories.
James had a remarkable work ethic and a true gift for creating with his hands. After years of dedication, he founded his own company, Alumaglass, which he successfully led for over 26 years. His work can be seen in many buildings around Memphis.
Outside of work, James was devoted to his family. Whether he was enjoying time with Suzanne, their beloved pup Baxter, their children, or their grandchildren, his family always came first. James also had a passion for golf, where spent countless hours enjoying the game and the camaraderie it brought.
James' infectious laugh, warm smile, and unwavering optimism will be remembered by all who knew him. Whether it was sharing a joke, providing support, or simply being there for someone, James made a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.
In 2021, James was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, but he faced the diagnosis with the same strength and determination that he brought to every challenge in life. After receiving a lung transplant in 2023, he fought courageously for every precious moment with his family and friends.
James is survived by his loving wife Suzanne, daughter Tiki Adkisson, son Travis Redmon, son-in-law Tom Adkisson, and his four beloved grandchildren: Josephine Adkisson, Paxton Adkisson, Ethan Redmon, and Emory Redmon. He also leaves behind a wide circle of family and friends who were blessed to know him.
James' legacy lives on in the countless memories he created and the impact he made on those around him. Though his presence will be deeply missed, his love and laughter will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who loved him.
Fly high, James. You are loved, you are missed, and you will never be forgotten.
