Jo Alice (Koonce) Guyer, age 90, departed her Earthly Home in Memphis, Tennessee for her Heavenly Home, on Saturday, March 27, 2021 She was born in Halls, Tennessee, but grew up in Risco, Missouri. She was a graduate of Risco High School. After graduation, she moved to Memphis, where she met & married Henry L. Guyer, now deceased. She was retired from Sears Crosstown, after 30 plus years as a mail order typist. She was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church, formerly Ardmore Baptist, for over 60 years.
She leaves behind a daughter, Sandra Langley (Russell) of Ripley, Tennessee, 2 sons, David L. Guyer (Anita) of Hernando, Mississippi and Roger W. Guyer (Angie Howerton) of Memphis. She also leaves 6 grandchildren, Nickie Langley (Matt Fletcher) of Germantown, Tennessee, Sharon Langley Shipley (Josh) of Memphis, Mark Guyer, of Hernando, Amber Guyer Fisk (A.J.) of Christina, Tennessee, Aylssa Guyer (Brayden Baker) of Spokane, Washington, and Elise Guyer of Memphis. Four great grandchildren, Alana Grissom, Sydney Permenter, Sam Shipley and Norah Shipley, and baby boy Fisk due in May, 2021. Among others left behind are several nieces and nephews, three sisters in law, Betty Koonce, of West Bloomfield, MI, Carolyn Guyer Graves, of Grand Junction, Tennessee, and Patricia Guyer of Crump, Tennessee.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, T. H. and Roxie Koonce, three brothers, Herbert, Orville and Donald Koonce, one sister, Jamie Belle Koonce and one grandson, John Travis Langley.
Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Avenue has charge of services. Visitation will be held Thursday evening, April 1, 2021 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM; funeral services will be held on Friday, April 2, 2021 at 2:00 PM, all at the funeral home.
