John Douglas “Doc” Murdock, a man who loved his family, his automobiles, his cronies at Colonial, playing golf and any type of card game, making a sale, the Waffle House, and an occasional Absolut and Tonic (not necessarily in that order), passed away quietly after a long illness on Friday, September 30, 2022.
A native Memphian, John was born on August 11th, 1950 to Fred and Joyce Murdock and was a graduate of Oakhaven High School and Memphis State University.
John reveled in making a deal. Even after retiring from the car business, he found time to wholesale cars on the side with a long time friend until his daily tee time.
John was preceded in death by his father, Fred, and leaves his mother, Joyce Murdock, his loving wife of 42 years, Karen, a son Jon-Michael Murdock (Megan), one granddaughter Kate Murdock, a brother Mike Murdock (Nancy), sister-in-law Marsha Lulloff (Butch), nieces Kristen Clenin (Derek), Ashley Murdock and Malorie Meyers (Josh) along with nephew James Murdock (Brooke), and his loving dog Cooper.
At his request, there will be no funeral service but a Celebration of Life will be held on October 22nd from 3-5pm at Colonial Country Club.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.FamilyFuneralMemphis.com for the MURDOCK family.
