

John M. Vornholt “Doc”, 76, died Saturday, June 12, 2010. He was born in Wisconsin and moved with his family to Okarche, Oklahoma in 1948. He graduated from Okarche High School, had a Bachelor of Liberal Studies degree from University of Oklahoma, a Master of Science in Communication from University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Master of Theology from St. George’s Seminary in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Doctor of Ministry degree from The graduate Theological Foundation at Nortre Dame. He worked in the newspaper business for many years; was a retired priest in the Diocese of the South in Arizona, having been the rector of St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church in Springdale, Arkansas and retired from Christian Brother’s University in Memphis, Tennessee. He is survived by his wife, Juanita; daughter, Kelli Owens and son-in-law, Mike Owens of Germantown; son, Barry Jeffries and daughter-in-law, Nuran Jeffries of Falls Church, Virginia; daughters, Teresa Vornholt and Jennifer Deshong; son, Mark Vornholt of Ohio; grandsons, Brent and Ronnie Bates; granddaughters, Harmony Bispo and Candice Darling of Ohio; grandson, Kip Owens and granddaughters, Audrey and Celia Owens of Germantown; grandson, Erol Jeffries of Virginia; great-grandson, Cody Morlan and great-granddaughters, Amber Morlan and Icee Darling of Ohio. Visitation will be at First Evangelical Church Chapel, Thursday, June 19 at 5 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Wings Cancer Foundation, 100 N.
