Joseph Herbert Hopkins, of Horn Lake, Mississippi passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2019. He was born in Memphis, TN on December 30, 1932. Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Hopkins; his parents, Earl Tillman Hopkins and Catherine Cox Hopkins; his daughters, Shirley Ann Akin and Patricia Gail Hopkins; his brothers, Earl Thomas Hopkins and Milton Hopkins; his sisters, Mattie Anita Holden and Melba Jane Adams.
He was an Aviation Enthusiast, Atlanta Braves Fan, Aircraft Pilot and worked for years on the Railroad and at General Electric as a shipping clerk. He loved playing the guitar and listening to his favorite artist, Johnny Cash.
Joseph is survived by his sister, Irma Charmichal; his sons, David Joseph McClain and Richard Earl Hopkins; his daughter, Linda Sue Cierzniewski; 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave, Memphis, TN 38122. A visitation will occur Wednesday, August 7, 2019 from 9:00 AM until funeral services at 10AM at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave. Memphis, TN.
