Joseph Raymond Reed, Jr. was born in Memphis, TN on November 15, 1938 to Joseph Raymond Reed Sr. and Mary Adair Reed. He had one sister seven years older; two daughters, Carol and Christine, who preceded him in death.
Joe joined the army at age 18 and spent three years in the service where he served in the Korean
War. After being honorably discharged, he served thirty-three years as a Memphis Police officer; fourteen of those years as a motorcycle policeman, retiring as a captain in 1995.
Joseph and Brenda Reed married in 1993 and were happily married for 25 years. He was a wonderful husband and father. Joseph was also a wonderful stepfather to Chris and Sonny Ward.
Joe was a pilot and ground - school instructor, proficient carpenter, builder and mechanic. There was nothing he couldn't fix. Joseph had too many facets to name here.
Finally, Joe was baptized and became a Christian in 2003 after accepting Jesus as his personal Savior. After much suffering over a period of time, the Lord took him home to be with Him on Wednesday, November 21, 2018.
A visitation for Mr. Joseph Reed, Jr. will be held Monday, November 26, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Holmes Road Church of Christ, 1187 E Holmes Rd, Memphis, TN 38116. A funeral service will occur Monday, November 26, 2018 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 1187 E Holmes Rd, Memphis, TN 38116 with a burial to follow at Memphis Memory Gardens on 6444 Raleigh Lagrange Rd. Memphis, TN.
