Joyce Helen Taylor Owen, 84, of Memphis, passed away April 28, 2013, at home. The family will gather to receive friends on Wednesday, May 1, beginning at 1:00 p.m. until the funeral service at 2:00 p.m., all at Family Funeral Care on Summer Avenue. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Owen worked for several years as a civil servant, first at the U.S. Army Depot and then at the U.S. Naval Base in Millington, until her retirement. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Leslie Lewis “Mickey” Owen; her parents, David Homer and Nannie Jones Taylor; three sisters, Mary Chandler, Sue Butler, Frances Chumley; and one brother, James Taylor. Joyce is survived by her three children, Michael Owen, Jeannine Mize (Carl), and Lisa Smith (Ronnie Howard), six grandchildren: Kathy Maxwell (Nic), Christie Summers (John), Matt Davis, Ryan Mize, Jared Smith and Cody Smith; and five great grandchildren; one sister, Robbie Hill and one brother, Howell Taylor.
