

Judy Lynn Jackson, 77, entered eternal rest on December 30, 2025 in Southern Pines, North Carolina where she resided for the past seven years. She was preceded in death by her father, John Edward Jackson, and her mother, Cecelia Richartz Jackson. She is survived by her sister, Nancy Jackson Hobby and her brother-in-law, James Curtis Hobby of Seven Lakes West, North Carolina. Judy cherished her role of Aunt to her nephew, Drew Edward Hobby (Allison) of Boise, Idaho, and her niece, Brooke Hobby Winans (Elijah) of Beaufort, South Carolina. She shared fun, family times with her great-nieces, Grace Hobby and Maddie Hobby and her great-nephews, Jackson Hobby, Max Winans, and Mason Winans.
Judy graduated from Overton High School in Memphis, Tennessee, and from The University of Tennessee at Martin. While at UTM, Judy served as Vice President of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Judy earned Master’s Degrees in Education and in Administration and Supervision at the University of Memphis. During her dedicated career as an educator with Memphis City Schools, Judy touched the lives of countless children, guiding and inspiring them with compassion and purpose. She faithfully served in many roles-including Classroom Teacher, Reading Specialist, Assistant Principal, Principal, and district-level Academic Superintendent-always leading with a deep commitment to student success. Judy concluded her professional journey as an Academic Coordinator for the Tennessee Department of Education.
Judy will be greatly missed by her family and friends but is in God’s care. She was a longtime member of Colonial Baptist Church. The family will receive visitors on Friday, January 9 from 11:30-1:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel.
Graveside services will be held at Forest Hill Midtown at approximately 1:30 PM.
