Kong Chea

Kong Chea, beloved mother/grandmother/great grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on February 20, 1941, in Cambodia, where she spent her early years farming and surrounded by family and her community. Her life was profoundly shaped by the events of her homeland. During the Khmer Rouge regime, she endured immense hardship and uncertainty. Through it all, she demonstrated resilience, courage, and strength. After surviving one of the most difficult periods in Cambodia’s history, she made the courageous decision to begin again. On September 20, 1985, she immigrated to the United States in search of safety, stability, and a better future of her family. She rebuilt her life with dedication and grace, creating a home rooted with love, tradition, and resilience. She devoted her life to raising her children and grandchildren, instilling values of perseverance, respect, and unity. She found joy in going to the temple and gardening, leaving lasting memories with all who knew her. Her legacy is one of resilience, sacrifice, and unconditional love. From surviving hardship to building a new life, her journey reflects a remarkable story of courage and devotion that will continue to inspire generations to come. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. She was preceded in death by her son, Roun Chea, and granddaughter, Sophen Chea. She is survived by her son, Khan Chea; daughters, Noeun Chea, Kim Man; daughters-in-law, Ra Tang, Chenda Chea; sons-in-law, Oeun Ou, Ham Man. Grandchildren: Sokhoeun Khun, Paul Chea, Leesan Chea, Josh Man, Jake Man, Phan Khun, Phoeun Khan, Daly Chea, Cindy Chea, Lisa Chea, Tina Chea, Mary Chea, Anita Chea, Alisha Chea, Chrystina Chea, Ashley Man, Katelyn Man, Evelyn Man. Great-Grandchildren: Sovann Au, Sovonn Au, Somnang Au, Sopheara Au, Kaison Chea Khun, Aiden Chea, Travis Jamaal Starks Jr., Kaesan Amir Chea, Demmar Villaruz, Kai Nguyen Chea, Angel Au, Josilyn Jefferson, Adalynn Rankin, Ariya Gladney, Averie Chea Villaruz, Avayah Chea Smith. As well as beloved extended family including Cristine Chen, Sopheap Au, Travis Jamaal Starks, Daniel Nguyen, David Villaruz, and Andre Smith
