Larry Daniel “Dan” Jarrett, 70, of Memphis, TN passed away on Thursday July 30, 2020. He was born September 28, 1949 in Maury City, TN to Johnnie and Willie Mae (Daniel) Jarrett. He graduated from Oakhaven High School and attended both University of Memphis and University of Kentucky. He worked professionally in the finance and mortgage industry until his retirement in 2010. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Jean.
A beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and Vietnam veteran, he enjoyed cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and Memphis Tigers. Most importantly, Dan loved life and being with his family and friends. He loved hosting the annual July 4th party, making sure there was always enough biscuits and donuts for everyone. He was loved by many and never met a stranger.
Dan is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Susan; son, Greg (Allyson); and the pride of his last few months, granddaughter, Lenora Catherine. He also leaves behind sisters-in-law, Betty and Barbara (Bill); nephews, Tim (Amy), James (Bridget), Mark, and Stephen (Laurie); niece Rachel (Beau); great-nephews Jay and Leo; great-niece Phoenix; several other great-nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
Visitation will be held on August 6, 2020 at 10:00 am until 12noon at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave, Memphis, TN. Committal Service will be held on August 6, 2020 at 12:00 pm at Memphis Memory Gardens, 6444 Raleigh Lagrange Road, Memphis, TN.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, American Heart Association or Wounded Warriors.
