Her family moved to Belmont, MS when she was a small child, then to Memphis, TN when she was a teenager. On December 31, 1950, Neda married Joseph A. Malone and they resided in Memphis, TN area their entire married life. They raised two children, Walker Malone and Carolyn Malone. Neda worked many years in the insurance field and retired from Mid-South Insurance Agency. She was a member of Waypoint Baptist Church (formerly Broadmoor). Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, and crafts. She also loved playing bridge.
Neda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Walker Reed "Chip" Malone; her granddaughter, Heather Joe Malone, her great grandson, Rodney Stephen Vota, Jr.; six siblings, Nora Cumberland, Elmer Nelms, Juanita "Skeeter" Maxey, Evelyn Kemp, Cloister Nelms and Margaret Piper.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Elizabeth (Albert) Ives of Hot Springs, AR; two granddaughters, Debra Lynn (Rodney) Vota of Hot Springs, AR and Jessica Lee Erickson of Memphis, TN and nine great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Saturday, July 30, 2022 from 11am until 12 noon at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Ave, Memphis, TN 38122. The graveside service will be from 2pm until 3pm at Oak Grove Methodist Church Cemetery, 637 Poplar Corner, Fruitland, TN 38343.
