Letty enjoyed traveling the world, visiting with friends and family, and attending church at Kirby Woods Baptist and Ridgeway Baptist Churches. Her greatest passion was working; she also volunteered at The Orpheum as well as various Wonders Exhibits.
Letty loved animals, especially dogs, and once said if she had her choice, she would have chosen to be a wildlife photographer. Birdwatching was a favorite pastime for her, an activity she shared with her family.
Letty lied about her age and went to work at the age of 14 and maintained self-sufficiency for most of her life. With her dedication and steadfast work ethic, she thrived at a time when women didn’t compose much of the executive workforce.
After graduating from White Pine High School, Letty attended college courses and worked her way up from a secretarial position to holding the office of Vice President at Builder Services, a hospitality management company. Letty worked well into her 90s and became the first female president of the East Memphis Lions Club.
She is survived by her daughter Karen Fisher Cox (Robert Cox), her granddaughter Caroline Cox (Galen Gower), and grandson Kevin Cox (Brian Ballou). She will be greatly missed by her family and everyone she touched with her friendliness and generosity of spirit.
A visitation for Letty will be held Saturday, September 27, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Memphis Funeral Home, 5599 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119, followed by a funeral service from 11:00 AM.
